LAWS 816 - Introduction to Environmental Law and Policy

Credits: 1

Intensive one-credit course on certain basics of environmental law and policy. The course will cover: relevant history of environmental law and policy; fundamental statutory, regulatory and case law as well as other authorities in the environmental field; an overview of the relevant federal agencies; and a case study. We will use a combination of interrelated classroom work, discussion, presentations, video and web access, reading, and a simulation to explore environmental law and policy. This course is neither a substitute nor a prerequisite for the more in-depth Federal Environmental Law course. This course is required for Dual Degree students pursuing a Masters of Studies in Environmental Law through Vermont Law School, and is also open to all USC law students and other graduate students in the University.
